We Remember

“When our young minds were most impressionable, this tragic day burned images that will never be forgotten,” said Zach Redding, president of SGA. “Those who lost their lives are endeared to us as heroes and as humans. WVU SGA remembers the sacrifices of so many and will forever honor them.”

What other people are saying...

I was 11 years old at the time. I was in 6th grade when we heard about what happened. I remember watching the news and seeing it over and over again. It was really scary, though I was too young to completely understand what was really happening. For all the families who lost someone in 9/11 you are in my prayers and for the people who were lost, you'll always be remembered.

i remember exactly how i felt this day. 10 years ago. i was only in 3rd grade but my parents just previously got married September 8th 2001. They were on there honeymoon.. which was going to NYC then to Niagara Falls. My 3rd grade teacher got a phone call because of the information was given to her and she began to break down crying. Of course none of us knew what was happening , then she brought me to side and told me what happened. At this age i had no clue what was going on. She told me my parents were safe and crossing the border of canada but they wouldn't be able to come home for a while because the border was closing. She told me that america was being attacked and it was a really big thing and i had to go home with my friend jeffery. I thought nothing of anything going on.. i was only in 3rd grade. Me and my friend jeffery watched the reply over and over again of the planes crashing into the building thinking nothing of it. we just thought it was a movie. It never crossed our little minds what truly was happening. We just thought it was another hollywood blockbuster movie. i remember actually getting annoyed of seeing it over and over again. i remember asking jeffs grand mom why this movie was so special all she could do and say was.. you will figure out one day why roy.. you will know. Well today i know what truly happened and how crazy it was. I love america and its crazy how we were attacked. I get chills hearing about the attacks and the stories. 8th grade year we watched videos about the attacks and all i could do was cry. i wish i knew what i know now when i was in 3rd grade.

R.I.P. to the 343 firefighters, 23 New York City Police Officers, 37 Port Authority Police Officers, and 2,996 citizens who were killed in the tragic events that took place, one decade ago in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville Pennsylvania.

"We shall never forget, We shall keep this day, We shall keep the events and the tears, In our minds, our memory and our hearts, and take them with us as we carry on."
